JBFC-Curated Collection












We partnered with the Mount Pleasant Public Library to create a permanent movie collection designated the Jacob Burns Film Center Curated Collection, a unique collection of carefully selected high-quality films. The collection will continue to grow on an on-going basis by recommendations from the Film Center’s programming department.

Mount Pleasant Public Library The collection includes almost 300 DVDs that are housed at the Library at 350 Bedford Road in Pleasantville, NY. All library card holders in the county are welcome to visit the library to enjoy the collection. This group of films features some of the great selections that have screened at the JBFC Theater. Some highlights from the collection include popular film such as Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married, Jason Reitman's Juno, and Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire; classic films such as Alfred Hitchcock's Notorious, Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity, and Gillo Pontecorvo's The Battle of Algiers; great documentary films such as James Marsh's Man on Wire, Scott Galloway & Brent Pierson's A Man Named Pearl, and Rob Epstein's The Times of Harvey Milk; and entertaining films for children of all ages including Victor Fleming's The Wizard of Oz, Albert Lamorisse's The White Mane, and Robert Stevenson's Mary Poppins; along with many more great films in the collection.

The Mount Pleasant Public Library serves a community of 33,000 in the Town of Mount Pleasant and Village of Pleasantville, NY. The Library’s lending collection includes books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs and periodicals. Services include storytimes for children, lectures and author series for adults, and PCs and wireless internet access for the public.
