Programs: General Info

Facility and Equipment Use
Students are expected to treat the facilities and equipment with the highest degree of care. If an instructor deems that a student has intentionally misused the facilities or equipment, the student will be asked to leave the class and will not be permitted to return to the Lab. The Media Arts Lab is a fully air-conditioned, smoke-free facility. There is no lunch facility available at the JBFC Theater or the Media Arts Lab. Food and drink are prohibited in the production and screening areas.

Hours of Operation
The Media Arts Lab administrative offices are open Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm. The offices are
closed on all major holidays.

Photography and Publicity
Photographs, videotaping, and filming of JBFC/Media Arts Lab activities and programs are used for publicity and/or promotion of the JBFC/Media Arts Lab. If a class will be filmed or photographed, we will contact the teacher with as much advance notice as possible to request media releases from the parents.

JBFC Membership

Waiver
Students attend all courses at their own risk and waive the right to make any claims against Jacob Burns Film Center, Inc. and Media Arts Lab for any injury, damage, or loss sustained while on their premises at 405 Manville Rd., 364 Manville Rd., and 5 Grant St., Pleasantville, NY 10570. We are not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to students’ personal belongings.

Code of Conduct and Attendance
Students are expected to contribute to class activities, maintain a positive attitude, and exhibit respect for others at all times. The JBFC/Media Arts Lab reserves the right to remove a student from a class if this policy is violated.

Location
The Media Arts Lab is at 405 Manville Rd. (at the corner of Grant St.) in Pleasantville, NY, just off the Saw Mill River Parkway and down the street from the Jacob Burns Film Center Theater.

Financial Assistance
Schools that qualify for financial assistance may have the bus company or transportation department invoice sent to JBFC. The JBFC will make payment as directed on the invoice.

Transportation Information
Participating teachers are responsible for making all necessary reservations and arrangements for bus
transportation to the JBFC and the Media Arts Lab. Please allow ample time for travel, unloading, and loading.

Directions and Parking for Buses
The JBFC Theater is located at 364 Manville Rd.
The Media Arts Lab is located at 405 Manville Rd.
(Route 117 in Pleasantville).

FROM THE NORTH
Taconic Parkway south to Pleasantville Rd./Pleasantville exit. Turn left and follow Pleasantville Rd. 1.5 miles.
Turn left onto Manville Rd. The Media Arts Lab is on
the left at the first light. The JBFC Theater is on the
right just after the second light.

FROM THE SOUTH

Sprain Parkway north to the Taconic Parkway. Take
the first exit on the Taconic, Pleasantville–Route 117.
Turn right at the light at the base of the exit. After
¼ mile, bear left, following Route 117. The Media Arts Lab is on the left at the second light. The JBFC Theater is on the right just after the third light.

FROM THE EAST

Take Route 287 West to Exit 3 to the Sprain Brook
Parkway North. See “From the South” above.

FROM THE WEST
After paying the toll on the Tappan Zee, proceed south
on Route 87 (New York State Thruway) to Exit 8 Cross
Westchester Expressway. Remain in the right lane and
immediately take Exit 1 (Saw Mill River Parkway/Route 119). Take Route 119 East to Route 9A North. Routes 9 and 9A connect with Route 117. The Jacob Burns Film Center and the Media Arts Lab are located on Route 117 (Manville Rd.) in Pleasantville.

DROP-OFF

Media Arts Lab: Buses should enter the driveway at Manville Rd. and exit onto Grant St. Please do
not drop off students on Manville Rd. JBFC Theater: The bus drop-off is directly in front
of the Theater.

Notes for the Bus Driver No double parking unless students are actively boarding or disembarking the bus. Buses are permitted to park on Village Lane and Castleton Street. Maps are provided at drop off. No parking on the train track overpass on Manville Rd. No parking on any residential streets. No parking in any metered spots (unless the bus is van size and takes up only one spot). Drivers must remain with their bus at all times. Please wait for a call from a teacher before returning to pick up the students!
