Programs for Schools (Pre-K - 12; Professional Development)

School-based curricula are designed to support the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts, the English Language Arts, Social Studies, Career Development and Occupational Studies, and Mathematics, Science and Technology. The content is grounded in the traditional literacies of reading, writing, speaking and listening, and enhanced by the skills of communicating with image and sound. Educational experiences vary in duration and commitment, from one-time field trips, to mini-courses, to residencies.

The 2009-2010 catalog for school programs will be available in February.

Programs for Community Youth Organizations
(ages 3-18)

The JBFC has partnered with numerous organizations that offer after-school and summer programs, including Boys and Girls Clubs in Mt. Vernon and Mount Kisco, Ossining Children’s Center, Carver Center, and many more. The creative project based learning experiences the JBFC offers are ideally suited to organizations with a mission of supporting children’s academic and personal development. The Media Arts Lab introduces numerous new opportunities to work with youth outside of school.

The 2009-2010 catalog for community youth organization programs will be available in February.

Programs for Social Service Agencies
(children, adults, and seniors)

The multi-modal literacies taught in the JBFC’s education programs effectively engage youth and adults in a range of settings, including homeless shelters, residential treatment centers, foster care facilities, and alternative learning environments for at-risk youth. The programs provide valuable opportunities for creativity, self-expression, risk-taking, and collaboration.

The 2009-2010 catalog for social service agency programs will be available in February.

Curricula Designed for Replication and Dissemination
through licensing to schools, community youth organizations, social service agencies and arts centers beyond our region.

The Media Arts Lab is just that, a laboratory, in which new curricula are piloted, implemented, refined and then adapted for replication. The JBFC wishes to make its programming available nationally and internationally to schools, community youth organizations, social service agencies, and arts centers through licensing and training.

See Hear Feel Film, Cinemania, and Minds in Motion have all been successfully implemented at locations outside of Westchester County.
