Programs for 16-18 Years
Unscripted June 25-July 13, 12:00 noon - 7:00 pm (no camp July 4)
Unscripted is a dynamic filmmaking experience. Students learn about the craft of documentary production and visual storytelling and create an original short film. Students will engage in hands-on production, including shooting, lighting, and sound, with particular attention to camera movement, framing and composition. They will edit their films using Final Cut Pro 7, the industry standard editing software program. As a group, they’ll review sequences and rough cuts and practice providing productive critique, working towards a final cut. The production experience is enhanced by screening great contemporary documentary films.

Scripted July 16-August 3, 12:00 noon - 7:00 pm (no camp July 4)
This immersive course will give students the opportunity to work collaboratively writing, directing and editing a fiction film. With the goal of producing a completed short narrative film, students will work hands-on with every part of the creative process. Pre-production will include conceptualization, screenwriting, casting, and production design. As they move into production, they will learn to direct actors, communicate their vision to a cinematographer and execute a shooting script. Finally, they will edit their films using Final Cut Pro 7, the industry standard editing software program. They’ll collaboratively review rough cuts and practice providing critique. Scripted will also provide many opportunities to screen clips and features of exemplary work.
