In A Better World
"A well-told parable about on the futile perpetuation of violence ... [Director Susanne] Bier may not believe in hitting back, but she's a big believer in hitting hard." (Stephen Saito, IFC.com)
Danish director Susanne Bier (After the Wedding, Brothers) won the Best Foreign Language Oscar for this tightly-wound, emotional, family drama about forgiveness and revenge. Bier uses her distinctive cinematic style in this film set in two very different locations - a refugee camp in an unnamed African country and a small town in Denmark.

Tom McCarthy (The Visitor, The Station Agent) returns with this new comedic drama, one of the big audience hits of this year's Sundance Film Festival. The film follows Mike Flaherty (Paul Giamatti), an attorney and high school wrestling coach who takes on the guardianship of an elderly client in a last ditch effort to save his legal practice. What appears to be a win-win proposition for him and his client quickly reveals itself to be much more complicated than anticipated, when the client's teenage grandson shows up at his door in need of a guardian himself.
