The Trip

New Releases

"The joy of this small, unimportant contest is weirdly addictive; you come out of the film as if from a concert, playing the music of false voices in your head."- (Anthony Lane, The New Yorker)

Reprising their roles from Tristam Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story, Steve Coogan (Our Idiot Brother, Tropic Thunder) and Rob Brydon (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) reunite with Tristam director Michael Winterbottom (A Mighty Heart) in this witty and poignant improvisational comedy. Hired by The Observer to review fancy restaurants in the Northern England countryside, Coogan reluctantly asks Brydon to accompany him when his girlfriend and closer friends all say no. Playing loose versions of themselves, the duo spend their time on the road competing in a delightful game of comedic one-upmanship.

Mozart's Sister

New Releases

"The object isn't to stir you into what-if feminist outrage so much as to let a culturally magnificent era's societal inequalities act as a dissonant countermelody to a famous artist's biography." (Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times)

The re-imagined story of the elder sister of Wolfgang Amadeus, Maria Anna "Nannerl" Mozart (Marie Feret), a musical prodigy in her own right, who took top-billing over her brother. The Big Uneasy

Focus on Nature 2011

"The reason I made the film is because the hurricane did NOT cause the flood, despite what you may have heard on the news. However, poor science and even poorer management did.” (Harry Shearer)

Noted satirist, filmmaker and actor, Harry Shearer (A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, This is Spinal Tap, and the voice of 21 characters on The Simpsons including Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner and Ned Flanders) talks to fellow New Orleans residents, investigators, and an Army Corps of Engineers whistleblower to get the inside story of Katrina, a tale less of a natural disaster than of boundless human overconfidence in our ability to control nature.

Q&A filmmaker Harry Shearer will be interviewed by Jonathan Demme.  Reception to follow in the Jane Peck Gallery.

Harry Shearer . 2010. 99 m. NR. USA. Double Exposure.
