Westchester Jewish Film Festival 2009

March 12 - April 2, 2009
This year’s Jewish Film Festival is bigger than ever, with 29 programs packed into only three weeks. As we viewed over 100 films to make our selections, two strong themes emerged: Films like The Gift to Stalin and The Woman from Sarajevo offer a hopeful vision of a world united despite differences, and others present images of the Jewish community and history that run strongly against stereotype. (Who knew that the first NBA basket was scored by a Jewish ballplayer?) With movies from around the globe and many provocative evenings of discussion, this year’s festival is rich in opportunities to transcend cultural barriers and touch on our fundamental and common humanity.

Sponsors: Andrew and Froma Benerofe, Howard and Laurel Borowick, Marvin Israelow and Dorian Goldman, Richard and Heidi Rieger, Gary and Elisabeth Schonfeld, and Howard and Mindy Unger.

Patrons: Bet Torah, Cuddy and Feder LLP, Steven and Eileen Farbman, Joseph Gantz and Paula Blumenfeld, Jeffrey and Debra Geller, Samuel and Joan Ginsburg, Harvey and Helene Kaminski, Judah and Michele Kraushaar, David and Denise Levine, Frank and Amy Linde, Elliott and Susan Rose, Leonard and Harriet Schleifer, Jack and Judy Stern

All events in the festival are $6 (members), $10 (nonmembers), except where noted.
