Global Watch: Crisis, Culture, and Human Rights 2013

Join us for our signature documentary series, with 21 powerful films and numerous discussions on some of the most urgent issues of our time. As always, this series is a window into a wider world we don’t get to see and historical moments we don’t know enough about (such as the universally acclaimed The Act of Killing, about Indonesia, or Camp 14, about North Korea), but a good portion of this year’s selections hit closer to home. We present stories about a failed president and a failing economy, about a US city bombing its own citizens, and about one state’s battle against legal drugs. And hanging over all of it—as we’ll see on Opening Night—is the quietly growing presence of Big Brother, watching us….
